Kick off your holiday season with a festive family walk through the lights at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens!

Luminary Walk is presented by Westlake Ace Hardware, FNBO, Sarin Energy Solutions, and WeLightKC.com. 

Proceeds benefit Friends of the Arboretum. Choose from one of four unique experiences:

Traditional Luminary Walk

Fridays and Saturdays: November 28-29, December 5-6, 12-13, and 19-20

General Admission $17

Stroll along illuminated pathways to discover the magical Gnome and Fairy Villages, candlelit Marder Garden, and vibrant Children's Garden, with musical performances throughout. The gardens glow with color, while candle-lit woodland walkways create a serene atmosphere. Trees, buildings, and bridges shimmer with thousands of lights. Photos with Santa are available from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., and the trains run in the Train Garden until 8:45 p.m. Enjoy complimentary hot cider in the Children's Discovery Garden.

Experience the serenity of the Arboretum after dark. Enjoy the peaceful glow of candles through the woods, dazzling light displays, live music, and enchanting gnome houses—all without the kids. Perfect for a quiet date night or a relaxed evening with friends, this version offers a more tranquil alternative to the family-friendly Friday and Saturday Luminary Walk experience. Children under 18 are not admitted.

Gather your family and friends for a peaceful stroll through the electric gardens during this low-key version of the Luminary Walk. With no Santa, candlelit woods, musicians, cider, or trains—and no crowds—it's the perfect night to explore the glowing gardens and admire the intricate gnome and fairy houses. Capacity is significantly limited for a more relaxed experience.

Monday-Wednesday: December 1-3

3-Seat Cart $45 • 5-Seat Cart $75 (cost per group, assigned departure time)

Carts depart at the exact time listed at booking. Please plan to arrive early; late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Tours depart from the south exit of LongHouse Visitor Center near the Kopperman Garden.

Enjoy a guided ride through the gardens’ holiday lights from the comfort of a golf cart—an ideal option for guests with mobility challenges or special needs. Each cart is festively decorated and includes fleece blankets and complimentary hot cider for every rider. Arboretum staff drive the carts, so your group of up to 3 or 5 guests (not including the driver) can sit back, relax, and enjoy the sparkling displays.

For safety and seating capacity, small children ages 5 and under may be accommodated as lap riders (maximum one lap rider per seated adult).

Tours last about 45 minutes and travel through the Electric Glow portion of the Luminary Walk, providing a calm, low-sensory holiday experience.

The Arboretum gift shop and Cafe Celeste will be open and operating on these nights. 

Accessibility Note: Our passenger carts are not equipped with ramps or lift devices. Guests who use wheelchairs or mobility aids will need to transfer independently or with assistance from their companion in order to board.

Event Information

• Enter during the half-hour time slot you select. Evenings begin at 5:00pm with last entry at 8:00 p.m. Lights go out at 9:00 p.m.


• Free parking (though it is limited! Overflow parking is available at Wolf Springs Elementary School)


• No pets allowed - with the exception of service animals


• Tickets are NOT refundable, even due to weather cancellations. Tickets may be exchanged for another night/time based on availability. On your ticket confirmation email, there will be a link to swap tickets. Use that link to exchange tickets.
