A night of poetry and prose honors the world renowned black lesbian feminist, writer, and activist.


Join writers JP Howard and Gena Mimozo for a night of poetry, prose and politics honoring world renowned black lesbian feminist, writer, and activist Audre Lorde (1934-1992). Lorde lived on Staten Island, near the Stapleton Library, with her partner and children from 1972 to 1987. In addition to learning about Lorde and her life, patrons are welcome share their own reflections on Lorde's legacy, as well as original writing.
