Lo que vendrá
Piazzolla Centennial Marathon

HYBRID: In-Person & Livestreamed Event

Celebrate the centenary of legendary Argentine composer, Astor Piazzolla with a genre-defying marathon concert featuring the artist’s instrumental and vocal music for tango orchestra, classical and jazz ensemble, operita, and the silver screen.

Curated and directed by acclaimed bandoneonist Shinjoo Cho, this marathon is both a retrospective and a contemplation of the future featuring Piazzolla’s works more riveting than those often heard in the concert halls, in their original instrumentations. The concert will include a newly commissioned piece by Diego Schissi, a one of Argentina’s most prominent living composers, for solo bandoneon and Orchestra 2001 featuring Shinjoo Cho as soloist.

Ticket holders are free to exit and re-enter the Teatro between performances throughout the program.

Performances will be presented at 50% capacity in the Teatro and masks are required throughout the event, regardless of vaccination status. For Esperanza’s current COVID safety policies and restrictions, visit https://www.esperanza.us/esperanza-visitor/.
