Don’t miss this hands-on opportunity to lace your own Ojibway style snowshoes!
Instructors Lynda Knutsen and Jackie Jacobson will teach the lacing pattern and participants will work at their own pace to lace their snowshoes. The goal is for participants to complete at least one snowshoe in class, although many complete both snowshoes. All participants will leave confident to finish their snowshoes at home, if necessary.
This opportunity is for anyone over the age of 16 (age 14, if participant is registering with a parent/guardian).
Participants indicate their size of snowhoe kit based on wight and indicate their need within the registration process. Each kit includes two snowshoe frames built from straight-grained white ash, woven nylon lacing and lacing instructions.
Workshop will take place at the park’s maintenance shop. The workshop is 9am-5pm with a provided lunch; participants welcome to bring additional drinks and/or snacks.
Workshop costs $200. ShowClix ticket is $100, which covers snowshoe kits, lunch and use of LMSP facility. An additional $100 instructor's fee is required to be officially registered; participants are not fully registered until both payments have been obtained. Instructor's fee can be made with personal check made payable to Jackie Jacobson and sent to Amy Schimetz, Outdoor Ed Coordinator c/o Lake Metigoshe State Park - 2 Lake Metigoshe State Park - Bottineau, ND 58318. Ticket sales are final, no exceptions. Should instructor's fee not be mailed, regsitrant will be dropped from the class and there will not be a refund for the $100 ShowClix ticket.
Anyone fully regsitered that is no longer able to attend can send replacement, but notification needs to be sent to Amy Schimetz aschimetz@nd.gov on or prior to 5pm on February 9 due to snowshoe kit order. Any participants that do not attend will waive their full registration amounts (ShowClix and instructor's fee payment). If, for whatever reason, Lake Metigoshe State Park needs to cancel, refunds will be provided.
Workshop must have at least 12 participants, but is limited to 24 participants.
