Come learn about the must-have Graphic Novel and Manga titles of 2024!


This event will occur in person at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library on the 7th Floor.


Authors and creators from Penguin Random House, DC Comics, Archie Comics, Kodansha USA, and more will be on hand to sign autographs and talk about their latest books.  Featuring James Tynion IV, Jacoby Salcedo, Alex Segura, and Tomoko Nagano.

About Our Speakers
TJ Ferentini (They/them /he/him) began working in manga publishing in 2016 as an Editorial Intern for Kodansha Comics. They are now a Senior Editor with Kodansha Comics, where they have worked on series such as Attack on Titan, The Blue Wolves of Mibu, and Wandance, and many of Kodansha’s BL and LGBTQ+ series, including Boys Run the Riot, Is Love the Answer?, My Summer of You, Whisper Me a Love Song, Number Call, and more.


Marie Javins is a American comic book editor, comic book colorist, and travel writer known for her long association with Marvel Comics and the Teshkeel Media Group. As of 2020, Javins is editor-in-chief of DC Comics.


Born in Japan, raised in the U.S., Tomoko Nagano began her publishing career at Sesame Street where she edited a variety of children’s books and educator guides. Her next steps led to a contract position with Kodansha Comics, where she now a full-time in-house Editor. She has worked on a variety of series including Shaman King, I Can’t Say No to the Lonely Girl, Lovesick Ellie, Bless, Wind Breaker, and more.


Jacoby Salcedo, is a comic book illustrator who is based in Olympia, Washington. He is the artist of the upcoming DC Comics YA graphic novel THIS LAND IS OUR LAND: A BLUE BEETLE STORY, with frequent collaborator Julio Anta. He is the co-creator of the Harper Collins YA graphic novel, FRONTERA with Anta. Jacoby is also the artist on Dark Horse mini-series, IT'S ONLY TEENAGE WASTELAND with writer Curt Pires. Jacoby has also been featured in multiple comic anthologies such as DC's Legion of Bloom, Graphic Mundi's Covid Chronicles, and the GLAAD award winning Young Men in Love. 


Alex Segura is an acclaimed, award-winning writer of novels, comic books, short stories, and podcasts. He is the author of the noir novel Secret Identity (Flatiron Books), Star Wars Poe Dameron: Free Fall, and the Pete Fernandez Mystery series (including the Anthony Award–nominated crime novels Dangerous Ends, Blackout, and Miami Midnight). He’s won the Anthony Award for Best Short Story two years in a row; written comic books including the superhero noir The Black Ghost, The Dusk, and The Awakened; and worked at Oni Press, Archie Comics, and DC Comics. A Miami native, he lives in New York with his wife and children.


James Tynion IV is an Eisner Award-winning, New York Times bestselling writer and publisher of comic books. He is best known for co-creating hit horror comics series like Something is Killing the Children, The Nice House on the Lake, and The Department of Truth. He is also the writer of Young Adult adventure series, like multiple GLAAD Media Award-nominated Wynd, and the 2017 GLAAD Media Award winner The Woods. He spent ten years writing various Batman titles at DC Comics, where he co-created exciting new characters like Punchline and Ghost-Maker. He lives and works in Brooklyn, and is represented by United Talent Agency.


 To join the event in person | Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins. For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. All registered seats are released shortly before start time, and seats may become available at that time. A standby line will form 30 minutes before the program.
