Art Historian Mallory O’Connor’s presentation “Strangers in a Strange Land” explores Florida’s art history and rich visual mythology. Beginning with Andre Thevet’s etching of the “Mythical Beast of the St. John’s River”, Ms. O’Connor will present images that span centuries of time. Her lecture attests to both the vivid imagination of the artists like Salvador Dali and equally flamboyant narratives centered on our Sunshine State.
