Event Description

Whether you're a complete coding novice or a proficient programmer, this Professional Development session is a great opportunity to learn to code and have fun with physical computing. SAM Labs is an engaging, hands-on tool that can elevate your computer science skills based on a combination of wireless hardware blocks, intuitive coding platforms, and standards-aligned lessons. SAM Labs' Learn to Code Course is designed around teaching Google's Blockly coding language for 4th to 8th grade through scope and sequenced lessons, with a strong emphasis on problem solving and computational thinking.

In this all-day session, you will be introduced to the theory and pedagogy behind implementing and teaching a successful computer science initiative, learn specific coding skills using SAM Labs with Workbench, understand how problem solving and computational thinking can be applied within the realm of computer science, and explore other relevant themes such as digital citizenship, cyber security and more. Coding has never been as fun and exciting as this!

STEM clock-hours will be available.
