Save $50 when you take both workshops
Arcade Academy is excited to welcome back Kevin McDonald, one of the founding members of “Kids in the Hall” and genuinely amazing Canadian. He’ll be leading two brand new workshops on Saturday and Sunday. Each workshop is 3 hours and offers you a chance to learn the improv and sketch-writing techniques used by the Kids in the Hall.
Saturday December 10 from 12-3pm:
Squeezing Comedy from Improv
Saturday’s “Squeezing Comedy from Improv” guides students through the early process of developing sketches from improvised scenes. Groups of students will improvise a scene, and then the class will work with Kevin to identify and explore the greatest comedic potential of the scene ahead of a second go at the scene exploring that freshly-squeezed comedy. The workshop culminates with the full class working together on a large group scene that will be massaged into an “epic sketch.”
Sunday December 11 from 12-3pm:
One Line Premise
Sunday’s “One Line Premise” shows students how they can take their simple idea like “what if a guy were ten dollars short of being a billionaire?” and turn it into a complete sketch. Every student will come to the workshop with their own one-line premise, and work with Kevin and their fellow students to break that out into a fully-realized scene. After the workshop, students can send their completed draft of the sketch to Kevin McDonald and he’ll email his expert notes on improving it further.
Workshops are $150 individually, or $250 when purhcased online through this bundle.
