Event Description

In response to mounting concerns about the coronavirus, and out of an abundance of caution, The New York Public Library has suspended all public events in its research libraries for the month of March.

The Supreme Court Justice and Bronx native visits the Library to share her empowering children’s book about the beauty of difference.

Just Ask book cover

Having been diagnosed with diabetes as a child, Justice Sonia Sotomayor knows firsthand how difficult it can be to feel different. But in the same way different types of plants and flowers make a garden more beautiful, different types of people make our world a more vibrant place. In Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You, she writes about all sorts of challenges children face, and celebrates their special powers, too.

Justice Sotomayor will be joined in conversation by Chief Judge Robert Katzmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.

Attendees are invited to submit questions when they arrive at the venue.

In order to join the signing line following the talk, you must have a copy of Just Ask or ¡Solo pregunta! Books will be available for sale at the event, but you are welcome to bring our own copy, as well. Additionally, Sotomayor will sign copies of her other books: My Beloved World, Mi Mundo adorado, Turning Pages, Pasando páginas, The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor, and El mundo adorado de Sonia Sotomayor. Please note that there will be no personalizations or opportunities for photographs.

Please refrain from using cell phones and recording or electronic devices during the event. No large bags or backpacks are permitted into the event. All bags are subject to search.

TICKETS
Families and children are welcome! Please register for each guest that plans to come. Each ticket admits one person.
