Using never-before-seen archival footage, personal photos, first-person narratives, and cutting-edge, mouth-watering food cinematography, the film traces Julia Child's 12-year struggle to create and publish the revolutionary Mastering the Art of French Cooking (1961) which has sold more than 2.5 million copies to date, and her rapid ascent to become the country’s most unlikely television star. One of the few women to attend Paris’ Le Cordon Bleu school, Julia found her purpose and her fame at the age of 50 as she warmly welcomed America inside her kitchen.  A natural on camera, Julia sparked a culinary arts revolution with her love of food, easy banter and sassy quips while preparing her culinary confections, and a hearty appetite for living life to the fullest.  Directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy West (RBG), with commentary from well-known chefs and cookbook authors including Ruth Reichl, Sara Moulton, Jacques Pepin, José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, Ina Garten, Alex Prud’Homme, and others.
