Johnny Mercer & Me

Join us for a celebration of the life of popular American songwriter and singer John Herndon “Johnny” Mercer. Written by Miriam K. Center, the show reflects on Mercer’s music through the eyes of his longtime friend and confidante, Maxine.

    This vibrant musical has an uplifting script that features the works of Mercer and includes his hits such as Something’s Gotta’ Give,  Jeepers Creepers , The Days Of Wine And Roses, Moon River, Blues In The Night, Autumn Leaves, Come Rain or Come Shine, Skylark, and One More For The Road.

    The cast features Savannah favorites Jeffrey Hall, Maggie Hart and Laura Dutton. Through dialogue, music and lyrics this extremely talented cast tells stories of Johnny’s relationships, his private life and his love of Savannah.

    The audience is taken on a roller coaster ride through the shroud of darkness that engulfed Johnny and Maxine as he deals with his impending death of a brain tumor and she deals with the death of a young son and the lingering memories of her parents. However the show stays true to Johnny's idea that through it all we have to constantly "accentuate the positive!"
