JJ Pol Ton Accordion Duo: Jeremy Spindler and Paul C. Kozlowski
It all started with a simple trip between strangers to an accordion expo in Batavia, NY in 2008
JJ Pol Ton Accordion duo is not the first time Jeremy Spindler and Paul C. Kozlowski have collaborated—the pair, both with very deep ties to Buffalo, have a rich musical history with each other spanning over a decade. Now reuniting in 2021, they bring their unique talents to audiences again, giving a pastiche of impressionism, improvisation, composition, and melancholic beauty from two aging instruments which have seen a resurgence in the area, particularly because of these two artists! The traditional piano accordion and the Eastern Bayan combine to fill a space with the most explosive highs or paint a landscape of lush textures that fade into stark abstractions driven by Balkan polyrhythms and subtle interplay. Their compositions contain "crossover" elements of world-folk, experimental, with a jazz approach to form. Paul Christopher Kozlowski is a self-taught, award-winning composer, international performer, multi-instrumentalist, carpenter, and chef born on the west side of Buffalo, NY.
Jeremy Spindler was born in Paris, France to a family of musicians and music lovers who split their lives between Brazil and France. He began studying as a self-taught accordionist at the late age of 27. He is strongly influenced by accordionists such as R. Galliano, Dominguinhos, and Sivuca with strong influences from Brazil, the Balkans, new musette, jazz, all traditional “world” music, and the 1970's.Thanks for supporting PAUSA art house, our musicians and live music in Buffalo.
