From Jim: Twenty years ago my longtime good friend Gurf Morlix heard a batch of my original tunes and encouraged me to come to his home in Austin to record them. We had a few days long sessions with me and Gurf playing all the guitar and bass parts. The great Linda McRae joined us for some vocal harmonies and legendary keyboard player Ian McLagan worked his magic on a few. Twenty years later Gurf and I are still proud of the work. It helps that Mr. Morlix is incapable of making a record that doesn’t sound great, even with me involved. 

From Jim's friend Dave: Jim Whitford has been playing everybody else's music (really well) for the last 20 years. You see him on stage with everybody, he records with everybody, he even goes on tour to places like the UK and Villa Nova Ontario with everybody. But for those who have just come to know him over that time period, you might be totally unaware (because he would never tell you, or try to sell you a CD, or anything) that he is also an immense talent as a songwriter and bandleader. I'm so glad he decided to put this night together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his fantastic original music release, "Poison in the Well." I can't wait to hear these songs again, and I'm pretty sure there's gonna be some Pine Dogs material, and who knows what else. Let's pack the place and celebrate Jim! See you there.
