Event Description

Revered Bulgarian choreographer and performer Ivo Dimchev makes his Cincinnati debut performing his new album “Sculptures.” The album is a collection of love songs written over the past 10 years.

Known internationally for his provocative and often controversial performances, Dimchev’s work is an extreme and colorful mixture of dance, theatre, performance art, music, drawings, and photography. At the center of each of Dimchev's productions is his enormous musicality and remarkable vocal gift.

Dimchev is the creator of more than 30 performances. He has received numerous international awards for dance and theater and has presented his work across Europe, South America, and North America. He has led master classes at the National Theater Academy in Budapest, the Royal Dance Conservatory of Belgium in Antwerp, Hochschule der Künste in Bern, Switzerland, DanceWeb in Vienna, Giessen University in Germany, the Bremen Academy of Art, and other institutions. Dimchev is the founder and director of the Humarts Foundation in Bulgaria and organizes an annual competition for contemporary Bulgarian choreography. Dimchev was an Artist in Residence at Kaaitheater in Brussels from 2013-2016. In 2014, he opened MOZEI in Sofia, Bulgaria, an independent space for presenting contemporary art and music.

"Animalistic one moment, delicate the next, he meshes darkness and lightness with verbal and physical dexterity." - New York Times

"His beautiful singing sounds like a voice on an old record: poignantly far away." - Financial Times
