Event Description
What Is: Indigenous Futurism

A check in from a panel hosted at the Music Gallery in 2017, What Sovereignty Sounds Like, curator and host Ange Loft approaches the topic through a lens of building and organizing for the future.

Indigenous music artists and community are welcome to join in building the story, co-created with and facilitated by Kanienkeheka interdisciplinary artist, Ange Loft. Pulling together musicians, festival creators, composers and activists this day is created to strategize on how Indigenous artists can create their own gigs.

A group sourced adventure narrative is generated using panel artist experiences with gigging and the music game. Part chat, part arts based research; all Indigenous-lead music strategy.

Expect lively sharings on performance logistics, team relations, technical challenges and creative drive.

General audiences may observe, though contributions to building the game and contents will be reserved for Indigenous participants.

The event will be livestreamed on our website and on Twitch so that Indigenous participants from all around Canada can join in to ask questions and get involved. Whether you're attending online or in-person, please RSVP to secure your spot.
