Event Description

See Freida McFadden’s BookTok phenomenon brought to life in the psychological thriller starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney.

In The Housemaid, down-on-her-luck ex-convict Millie Calloway seeks a fresh start and finds herself in the lavish world of the Winchesters as their live-in housemaid. The wealthy family—Nina, her husband Andrew, and their daughter Cecelia—reside in a luxurious Long Island estate. What seems like the perfect job soon spirals into something more dangerous—a seductive, high-stakes game of secrets, scandal, and power. Adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, the film follows Millie as she navigates a labyrinth of shocking twists that lie hidden behind the Winchesters’ polished facade.

After the screening, director Paul Feig and producer Todd Lieberman discuss with the Library’s Aidan Flax-Clark how they brought McFadden’s domestic thriller to life.
