From the diamond mines of India and the royal palaces of Europe to the shores of Bar Harbor and the halls of the Smithsonian, Dr. Richard Kurin reveals the truth behind this legendary gem.

Dr. Richard Kurin is the Distinguished Scholar and Ambassador-at-Large as well as the former Under Secretary for History, Art, and Culture at the Smithsonian.  Dr. Kurin spent over a decade on the trail of the Hope Diamond.  He is the author of the brilliant “thriller” Hope Diamond - the Legendary History of a Cursed Gem. Copies of his book will be available for purchase in the museum’s gift shop.
