Event Description

The 2016 Celebration of Pride in the Nation's Capital presented by Hilton and hosted by the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., officially begins tonight at the Heroes Gala. Don your elegant attire and join us for an evening inside the iconic Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square, where we'll honor the Capital Pride Heroes and Engendered Spirits.

Musical entertainment will be provided by pop singer and songwriter Jeffery Austin, a finalist on the television competition The Voice.

In addition to a very classy location, great entertainment, and scrumptious hors' d'oeuvres, this year's Heroes Gala will include a classic open bar, and perhaps we'll even have a trick or two up our sleeves!

AND - if you are in the mood to travel, we'll have a "Magical Suitcase Drawing," where for the price of a $10 ticket, lucky winners will win a suitcase...not just an ordinary suitcase, but one filled with hotel accommodations, airfare, and few luxury goods to add to your travel comfort and fun!! More details to come.

Each year, Capital Pride designates as Heroes those individuals who have furthered the causes important to the National Capital regions LGBTA. These heroes have brought about positive changes to our lives and our community.

Engendered Spirit Recipients

Each year, Capital Trans Pride, of the Capital Pride Alliance, recognizes individuals who are outstanding supporters, advocates, and activists of the transgender Community. These Engendered Spirits have brought about positive changes to our lives and our community.

Special Honorees

-Paving The Way Award honors those in public life who have shown courage and leadership in helping to advance the cause of LGBT rights.

-Bill Miles Award honors outstanding volunteer service with Pride in the national capital region.
