Join us as we reconnect with former FWM College/Postgraduate Apprentice Jessica Gatlin in her studio!

Jessica Gatlin is an artist, maker and part-time sorceress originally from Jackson, TN. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2009, completing the FWM College/Postgraduate Apprentice Training Program in 2014 before going on to receive her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in 2017.

Gatlin’s recent exhibitions include a solo show at COOP Gallery in Nashville, TN and Coated/Coded, a group exhibition at Robert F. Agrella Gallery in Santa Rosa, CA. Her artist residencies and fellowships include the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts (Wroclaw, Poland), Ox-Bow School of Art and Artist Residency (Saugatuck, MI), and ACRE / Artists’ Cooperative Residency & Exhibitions (Steuben, WI). In 2019, Gatlin served as the Hamblet Artist-in Residence at Vanderbilt University. She currently resides in Baltimore, MD, having recently joined the faculty at the University of Maryland as Assistant Professor of Print and Extended Media.

This virtual studio visit is part of the Hello Again series, where FWM Apprentice Alumni offer an introduction to their artistic practice and a behind-the-scenes look in their studios. Learn the myriad of ways that artists pursue their practice.

The College/Postgraduate Apprentice Training Program (ATP) is a founding educational initiative at FWM. Over the past 40+ years, artists from all over the world have learned to screenprint large-scale repeat patterns on fabric in our studio, utilizing and transforming these skills in their individual practices.

Virtual event details will be emailed after registration.
