Maya May is an LA-based writer and stand-up comedian. Since moving back to the US in 2014, she has become known for her smart, fun, and socially conscious brand of humor, featuring at some of the country’s best independent comedy shows including Hot Tub with Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunholer, Women Crush Wednesdays with Marcella Arguello, and Butterboy with Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins, and Jo Firestone. Her comedy is just like she is: a healthy balance of optimism and rage, mischievous, and deliciously over-the-top. She is a high-energy and positive performer, who keeps audiences engaged with carefully crafted jokes that combine her life experiences (including 8 years in Argentina) with observations on race, politics, class, and gender.  A crowd-favorite at festivals including All Jane and the Asheville Comedy Festival, Maya has performed everywhere from Chicago’s Laugh Factory to the Hollywood Improv.

In 2020 she headlined over 50 colleges for her Virtually There College Comedy Tour which was featured on CNBC, Fox, ABC, and iHeartRadio.
