GSIM Day Pass

Join us for this year's Global Summer Institute of Music! Come and learn with musicians from all over the world as they participate in workshops and masterclasses on the campus of VCU. Highlights of the week include eight concerts for fellow participants and the Richmond community. Off-campus venues include the VMFA, Gottwald Playhouse and Grace Holy Trinity Church, among others. 

The Institute will culminate with a concerto competition with winners performing with the GSIM Festival Orchestra at the closing gala concert on Aug. 9. GSIM has grown to be a full, 10-day festival including disciplines such as piano, strings, voice, woodwind and composition with faculty and participants from the U.S., Asia, Europe and Central America.

The 2016 GSIM will include 70 participants, and 15 guest faculty, together with VCU resident faculty. Two featured guest artist will give spotlight masterclass and workshops: Nelita True, one of the most sought-after piano pedagogues of America, professor of piano at Eastman School of Music; Emmanuel Feldman, cello professor at both New England Conservatory and Tufts University.

Participants will have daily one-on-one instrumental lessons, chamber music coaching, lectures, masterclasses, and workshops at VCU Singleton Center for Performing Arts and the James W. Black Music Center. Theatre/acting classes and italian diction classes are provided for voice students.
