Event Description

Stone Barns Center trains the next generation on agroecological farming and cultivates a culture of eating that supports farmers.

Our workshops and field days for beginning farmers feature expert presenters on topics related to the practice of regenerative farming.

June 13: Agroforestry and Silovpasture
During this workshop, we will discuss the design and management essentials of silvopasture systems, using case studies, activities, and discussion with examples from around the Northeast US, including a site tour and practicum exercise working with on-the-ground silvopasture systems in use at Stone Barns. The workshop will focus on building a holistic understanding of the responsible practices of silvopasture, and exploring the economic, environmental, and management benefits (and potential challenges!) of silvopasture on your farm. For more information, click here

August 8: Insect and Disease Management in Organic Vegetable Production
The session will cover pest and beneficial biology and identification, and integrated pest management concepts, as well as a crop walk, looking at pests and beneficials in the field, and discussing possible management strategies. For more information, click here

October 3: Food Justice and Ending Racism in the Food System
Join us to learn how you too can be part of the movement for food sovereignty and help build a food system based on justice, dignity, and abundance for all members of our community. For more information, click here
