THE REALLY UNREAL REELS ON THE ACCUSATION STATION

HartBeat Ensemble’s Youth Play Institute presents

THE REALLY UNREAL REELS ON THE ACCUSATION STATION: Distorted Truth on Gender Violence

In this fast-paced and insightful new piece created and performed by HartBeat Ensemble’s Youth Play Institute, a news station skews and twists the truth on gender violence to suit their narrative and improve their ratings. Can we trust the news to tell the truth if it gets in the way of a good story? Comprised of vignettes and audience interaction, The Really Unreal Reels on the Accusation Station explores gender bias, media agenda, and what we can do to make our community a safe and brave space for all.

HartBeat’s Youth Play Institute (YPI), now in its 17th year, is a paid internship program in acting, playwriting, theater design or stage management for young adults between the ages of 16 and 21; a program where youth are developing and expressing their perspectives about social justice and engaging in their lives through a political lens.

Running Time: 50 minutes
