MSV Garden Theatre: The Tempest (October 28)

Enjoy an outdoor production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest performed on the lawn in front of the Glen Burnie House. Arrive early to explore the exhibition Maxfield Parrish: Paintings and Prints and see scenery studies created by Maxfield Parrish for a 1909 production of The Tempest. Play begins at 3 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket. Picnics welcome.

The Tempest by William Shakespeare brings an opportunity for Prospero—the Duke of Milan who was marooned years ago on an island by his usurping sibling and the king of Naples—to exact revenge on the conspirators. With the aid of an airy spirit, he orchestrates a series of scenes to gain their repentance and win his former position. Actors Geoffrey Anderson, Jerry Tracy, Marie Martin, Trevor Ontiveros, and others in a talented cast return to the MSV to present Shakespeare in the museum's lovely gardens. Directed by Rachel Smith, a company member with Maryland Ensemble Theatre, who has also directed performances at Winchester Little Theatre. 

MSV Members; youth ages 13–17, and SU faculty, staff & students: $5; all others: $15 (includes MSV admission). Rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather the program will be held in the MSV Reception Hall. 

­­­Refunds for Programs and Special Events: Programs are held rain, snow, or shine, unless notified otherwise. Cancellations 5 days prior to the program or event date will be refunded, less 20% of the registration fee ($5 minimum). No refunds will be given for cancellations made 1-4 days prior to the program/event date. Allow ten business days for refund processing. Programs cancelled by the MSV due to low enrollment or inclement weather conditions will be refunded in full or given a full credit towards a future program to be used within the year.
