Event Description
Gardening Workshops with Nick Storrs

Nick Storrs will offer five hands-on horticultural workshops for adults focused cultivating heirloom vegetable and garden varieties that were common during the Lyndhurst time period – 1830-1950.

Workshops will run monthly, May – September.  Each workshop runs from 2 pm - 5 pm and will focus on a set of seasonal gardening skills, planning and propagating seeds, to trellising and pruning techniques, to extending the growing season and putting a garden “to bed” for the winter. The overarching goal is to build confidence in your backyard garden while celebrating the rare heirloom varieties and the continuity of culture that gardening has allowed to survive throughout generations.

Workshop Schedule:
May 21: "Planting the Seeds of a Great Garden" - Planting vegetables, herbs, and annuals and the soil care needed to help them thrive.

June 18: "Feed Your Garden Well!" - Learn to fertilize and irrigate your garden in ways that don't waste water, and protect the environment around us.

July 23: "Grow Your Garden Up" - Trellising, pruning and harvesting techniques for vegetables, herbs, and annuals.

August 13: "Help Your Garden Stay Healthy" - Safe pest control for your garden and your family. Identify pests and diseases, and learn to address them through organic practices.

September 24: "Grow Your Garden Longer!" - Learn to extend your garden into the fall and beyond.
