Join home gardeners and garden professionals for a day of learning at the PHS Gardening for Biodiversity Symposium. Notable speakers will discuss how gardening influences biodiversity and share ways that individuals can help conserve and promote a variety of life in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Engaging 20-minute talks will introduce accessible gardening techniques, plant varieties, and citizen science projects for the individual as well as innovative projects happening in public spaces throughout the region related to native plants, pollinators, wildlife, and garden design. Hear from those promoting biodiversity both locally and globally, including keynote speaker Dr. Peter H. Raven, President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden.* Other speakers include Abby Meyer, Executive Director, Botanic Gardens Conservation International-US; Dr. Dennis Whigham, Senior Scientist, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center; and Nico Wissing and Lodewijk Hoekstra, co-owners of NL Greenlabel, based in the Netherlands.

The Symposium is scheduled from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with a reception on the Flower Show floor to follow. The full agenda and speaker lineup will be announced in February. The Symposium ticket includes admission

*Dr. Peter Raven will appear via video conferencing into the Symposium rather than appearing in person.
