Event Description
Friends of Glenn " A Get Together with Glenn Rowsey"

If you are someone who calls Glenn Rowsey a friend, please join him Sunday, July 11th at 123 Pleasant Street in Morgantown for a friendly get together. There will be music from Glenn's friends and bandmates Chris Kasper & the Tom Batchelor Band.  Any cash donation is appreciated and will help Glenn with medical & living expenses. The event will run from 5pm-9pm and is All Ages with parent guardian under 18.

Our friend Glenn Rowsey has been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma , an aggressive brain cancer, that has presented symptoms similar to that of a stroke victim. He is in urgent need of cancer treatment, physical therapy, occupational therapy, home care, and emotional well being.

The situation is dire.  Glenn really needs your help!

The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Glenn Rowsey

The Shepherd of an Art.

FROM  ANDREW WHITE LONGTIME FRIEND OF GLENN.....

I talked with Glenn a few days ago about how modest he is about his role in the world of Steel Pan. For the first time, I think maybe he saw himself as we see him, as the carrier of an art form. Yes, he is a friend and a musician, and a lover of coffee, but I think at Glenn's core, he is a Steel Pan Tuner, and he bears the weight of that with a strong sense of responsibility.  Glenn has selflessly given himself, his art form, and his skill set to countless musicians, schools, universities, churches, and community organizations, as well as other budding steel drum builders and tuners.  He has not asked for much in return.  This is the man who needs our help now.

The Cancer to Beat

Glioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most aggressive type of cancer that begins within the brain. Initially, signs and symptoms of glioblastoma are nonspecific. They may include headaches, personality changes, nausea, and symptoms similar to those of a stroke.  (Taken From Wikipedia)

The Treatment Plan

Glenn started his first round of Radiation Therapy on June 30th. This round of therapy will be 6 1/2 weeks long.   I will be updating this post with news of his progress and how he is responding to the treatment. The hope is to regain some mobility in his left side to get him in a position to be independent.  He is also on a strong steroid to help with brain swelling.

The Financial Need

This Care is Expensive. Here is a list of how these funds will be used to care for Glenn.

At this time it looks like Glenn will have a strong financial need for at least 24 months of treatment and care. With the hope that after he conquers this battle, he will get back to what he loves, making music!
