Join us for an evening of music and dance, as Astral brings the rhythms of forró to Esperanza! Forró, which translates to "for all", is a folk music style of Northern Brazil. Combining the accordion, triangle, and the zabumba drum with rapid-fire vocals and cheerful and sinuous melodies, forró is often compared to zydeco, the vivacious Creole music of Louisiana. To share the spirit of forró, the evening begins with demonstrations of the instruments and free dance lessons, then continues on with music and dancing for everyone! Join Astral and Esperanza for an evening that is truly “for all” – forró!
