4:30 pm-5:30 pm- Cherokee Stickball Exhibition
6:00 pm- Food Trucks and Beer Vendor opens
7:00 pm- Performance begins
The Nanci Waldon Outdoor Gym and greenspace at Lake Junaluska will be the beautiful backdrop for a demonstration of the traditional Cherokee game of Stickball played by the Kolanvyi Stickball Team. Followed by DAY TWO of the Folkmoot Summer Festival, a mosaic of American cultural diversity that shares traditions from around the world.
Performances by Mars Hill Clog Team, Bailey Mountain Cloggers; Indian Classical Dance Academy, Deeksha Classical Indian, African Dance Team, Suah, Spaniard Dance Academy, El Alma De Luna, Cherokee storytelling by Jared Wildcat and Cherokee Dance performances, and Grammy Nominated Cajun Band, The Revelers.
Folkmoot Festival tickets are available by online purchase with Showclix, calling 828-452-2997 or visiting the Folkmoot box office, 112 Virginia Avenue, Waynesville, NC. Groups of 20 or more receive a 20% discount.
There is no reserved or paid parking for performances at Lake Junaluska.
Folkmoot, a word meaning "meeting of the people", provides communities all over Western North Carolina the opportunity to build a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect and shared purpose by experiencing other cultures. Dancers from 9 nations around the globe will perform at the 37th edition of the Folkmoot Festival when it convenes, July 22-25, 2021, in our beloved Smoky Mountains.
