Event Description

Folkmoot's outdoor folkways gathering is a barbeque picnic held on Sunday, July 21st from 2pm until 9pm that features nationally touring Americana musicians, Plott Hound and Appalachian lifestyle displays and presentations, southern storytellers, crafts vendors sharing Appalachian cultural practices. Tickets for adults are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, students under 12 years are $5 in advance and $6 at the door and kids under 5 years are free. Family prices are available upon request.

Musical Performers include:

Amanda Anne Platt and the Honeycutters

Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters are on tour with their latest album, a self-titled disc released June 9, 2017 on Organic Records. Lyrically driven, the songs of Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters blend the band’s old-school country roots attitude with their shared influences of rock and folk. Amanda says of the album, “I think it’s just about life and all that that entails. Including but not limited to death, strangers, birthdays, money, leaving, arriving, seasons, corruption, and love.”

Jim Avett

Jim Avett’s shows are a combination of beloved country tunes, original ballads, and the stories he tells to introduce them. One comes away from a Jim Avett performance with the feeling that this is an honest man sharing his life and his love of music. It’s like spending the evening on the front porch singing and talking with a good friend.

Joey Fortner & the Universal Sound

For the past decade, Joey Fortner ran around the Southeast in the role of a banjo-playing side man. Slowly, though, he eased away from the banjo and up to the mic, guitar in hand and backed by a new band of western North Carolina music veterans and good friends. The “Universal Sound” encompasses the ideas in Joey’s musical mind, blending Americana, Bluegrass and a touch of Rock N Roll.

Ol' Dirty Bathtub

Ol’ Dirty Bathtub
Not be your grandpappy’s bluegrass, but he’ll dig it too! Based out of Sylva, NC, Ol’ Dirty Bathtub is a five piece band that plays an original mix of americana, folk, and bluegrass. Energetic guitar and dobro gets audiences grooving!

Enjoy a beef and pork barbeque meal for $10/person. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available upon request.
