Faces of Hope Presents:
Free Showing of the Netflix Docuseries American Murder: Gabby Petito
Faces of Hope partners with the Egyptian Theatre to organize a free community showing of the famous Netflix documentary that covers the nationally known case of Gabby Petito. The showing will take place at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise on Monday March 3oth, 2026. The screening features the full docuseries, which includes footage filmed by Gabby Petito and exclusive interviews with her parents. This documentary examines Gabby’s life, her disappearance during a cross-country trip in September 2021, and the broader issues surrounding domestic violence and warning signs of abuse. Gabby Petito was a 22-year-old travel blogger who disappeared while on a cross-country trip with her fiancé in September 2021. Her disappearance and death – later determined a homicide - sparked national conversations about intimate partner violence and prevention. Jim Schmidt, the stepfather of Gabby, said, “Our goal with the documentary was for it to be an educational piece that parents could watch with their children and have those tough conversations.” The free community showing is a prequel to the nonprofit’s upcoming Faces of Courage benefit gala on April 30th. The gala welcomes all four parents of Gabby Petito as guest speakers who have transformed their unimaginable loss into powerful advocacy for domestic violence prevention.
