Event Description

Gilda

1946. USA. Directed by Charles Vidor. Screenplay by Marion Parsonnet. Music by Doris Fisher, Allan Roberts. Dances by Jack Cole (uncredited). With Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, George Macready. Hayworth saucily tosses her lion’s mane of luxuriant hair, first in her boudoir and then, unforgettably, in "Put the Blame on Mame," courtesy of Cole. Also indelible: Hayworth, wrapped in a glistening sarong by Jean Louis, pulsating to a rumba beat in "Amado Mio." More and more a director in his own right, Cole worked closely with the great cinematographer Rudolph Mate in filming the noir-inflected dance numbers. 110 min.
