Event Description

This workshop for high school educators weaves together several theoretical frameworks to help explain and explore how educators can support students’ social emotional learning through engagements with art and art making. Working with a MoMA educator and a licensed clinical social worker, participants will spend time in MoMA’s newly expanded galleries exploring artworks that capture various aspects of identity and its development. These interactions with works of art will support us in creating our own representations of our identities through self-portraiture. We will specifically focus on identity development during the adolescent years and how its various components intersect with social and emotional well-being. We will then work to understand how we can utilize artworks and art making to support social emotional learning and healthy identity development in high school students.

Cost: $50. Includes instruction, resources, Teacher Pass for unlimited admission to MoMA, and a 10% discount on educational materials at the MoMA Stores. Light breakfast will be served.

This workshop is not eligible for CTLE credit.

Registration will open soon.
