Our Experiences as Women in Comedy

Women have been making great comedy for eons, and there’s more female representation in the comedy world than ever. However, there are certain things that women experience that men don’t, like having audience eyes glued to your boobs, not everyone appreciating your tampon joke, or being pinned into being a mom and a prostitute two improv scenes in a row. What else? This workshop exists to create a home for women and gender minorities for the following:
- Articulate and appreciate the diversely gendered experiences impacting our performance
- Take an opportunity to learn to amplify our own voices, while making space and amplifying voices that are still underrepresented.
- Dream a little about what we might need to carry on wildly, beautifully and strongly in a still largely male-dominated scene.
