The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People is a play by Oscar Wilde.
Wilde’s endearing and enduring comedy promises to delight with mistaken identities, romance, social commentary and a touch of fantasy!
This special 90-minute, one-act adaptation is given a fantastical and playful contemporary setting brought to life by a company of talented local actors and directed by Capitol Theatre’s Artistic Director, Susan Ferley. The cast includes several Northumberland Players and other luminous local talents.

- All performance tickets will be sold General Admission with a maximum group size of 6 per order.
- For the safety of all guests attending performances, pre-assigned seating requests will not be considered and seats will be assigned by the theatre ensuring a safe social distance between all parties.
- Concession vouchers will be available for pre-purchase with your show tickets or on-site prior to the performance only
- All guests will be required to wear masks throughout the performance, except when eating or drinking in the assigned theatre seats.
The Board of Directors and Management of the theatre have approved the implementation of a mandatory vaccination policy which will require that all persons entering the theatre be fully vaccinated, except for those who have religious or medical reasons for avoiding vaccination.
