Event Description

In honor of The New York Public Library’s recent acquisition of the Lou Reed Archive, and the 75th anniversary of Reed’s birthday, the Library is hosting a performance of Reed’s conceptual installation and soundscape, led by his original collaborator, Stewart Hurwood. Plus, in keeping with Reed’s study of the art of tai chi, demonstrations will be led at 7 and 9 PM by tai chi master Ren Guangyi.

PLEASE NOTE: Guests must register for an hourly time slot. Tickets are required for this event, although entry is not guaranteed. Guests will be admitted on a first come, first served basis only during the hour for which they registered. Please be sure to have your ticket printed or downloaded to your mobile device. For comfort, yoga mats are suggested.

Discover highlights from the Lou Reed Archive on display in Astor Hall. Reed's legacy is also being honored in another collection display at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts from March 2–20, along with a public performance of Reed’s The Raven on March 13. Registration required for public programs due to limited space.
