Paul Matthews is a husband, father, floundering evolutionary biology college professor and socially awkward everyman. The kind of person you’d walk by on the street and not give a second glance. Paul finds his hapless life turned upside down after he starts appearing at random in other people’s dreams. First, it’s his daughter, then an old girlfriend, then his students, then practically everyone on the planet, until Paul finds himself recognized, celebrated, and desired by millions of strangers. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom. Making his English-language debut, Oslo-born writer-director Kristoffer Borgli follows the rise and fall of one man’s fifteen minutes of fame, in this wickedly entertaining comedy and playful take on the collective consciousness of modern life, where just about anyone can suddenly become a strange kind of celebrity, and fall back into obscurity or infamy just as quickly. Starring an almost unrecognizable Nicholas Cage, who transforms himself into a clueless and gregarious nobody as he attempts to manage his sudden and improbable fame. Cage seizes the role with breathtaking zeal, taking viewers on an unforgettable ride full of twists and turns.
