Synopsis:
Between 2008-2015, a man filmed his life obsessively and uploaded it to YouTube. The hundreds of hours of raw footage revealed a very personal and intimate look into an American family’s life and their struggle to survive. Fraud is a film created by piecing this colossal trove of home video into a narrative.
Witness the implosion of a working-class family chasing the American Dream, sort of. Culled from over one-hundred hours of one family’s home movies on YouTube, Fraud uses found footage to reveal the slippery nature of what we see online.
“obliterates the line between fiction and documentary… a fascinating experiment in subversive storytelling” – Norman Wilner, NOW Magazine
“a frighteningly funny and infuriating found footage film that shines a light on the cost and delusion of the American dream. – Andrew Parker, Toronto Film Scene
