hammered + hooked key west

hammered + hooked key west is the vision of Sydney Waring, a self-taught artist with a renegade spirit and unique vision.  Sydney learned to knit at age eight, but didn't take up the craft again for over fifty years. When she did, she took a decidedly non-traditional approach.  Her 'hooked' blankets are made using six foot tall knitting needles and require at least two people to work on such a dramatic scale. Conversely, for the 'hammered' jewelry, she intricately crochets twenty foot long strands of silver wire and shapes her necklaces around large knitting needles. Each piece is custom made.

A.D. won the Pomerantz Painting Prize in 1967, graduated from the Swain School of Design in 1969, and earned his MFA from Brooklyn College in 1971. He was a founding member of the First Street Gallery in New York, and has had several group and one-man shows in New York, New England, and South Florida.

Visit CR Gray at his art studio to see his newest works of sculpture combining functional art and ornamental works. Craig's philosophy is simple: Create art from the Earth . At CR Gray, each piece is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike. As unique as the rocks, trees and land from which they came from, the Art that is created by Craig is all made by his two hands in his studios in Stock Island, Florida.
