Double Feature with Tillie's Punctured Romance
(1933) dir George Cukor w/Marie Dressler, Billie Burke, Jean Harlow, John Barrymore, Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore, Lee Tracy, Edmund Lowe; Frances Marion scr [111 min; 35mm]
In this pre-code serio-comic romp centered on a society dinner party, the plot – which is either too complex or too effervescent to describe – is secondary to the chemistry between the all-star cast and the lavish costumes. This isn’t to say that the script, adapted from the George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber stage play by Frances Marion and Herman J. Mankiewicz, is anything to scoff at.
A "Double Feature" ticket additionally allows admission into the 7:30 screening of TILLIE'S PUNCTURED ROMANCE. No additional purchase is necessary.
