Event Description
(1994) dir Spike Lee w/Zelda Harris, Alfre Woodard, Delroy Lindo, David Patrick Kelly, Carlton Williams, Sharif Rashed, Tse-Mach Washington, Christopher Knowings [115 min; 35mm]
Moving from 1930s Kansas to 1970s Brooklyn, we follow Gordon Parks’ semi-autobiographical film with Spike Lee’s semi-autobiographical memoir about growing up in the NYC borough. Seen mainly through the eyes of a nine-year-old girl named Troy (Harris), the film lays out the family dynamics between Troy, her four brothers, their aspiring musician father (Lindo), and their long-suffering mother (Woodard) during one fateful summer.
