theCAUSE is a band consisting of 5 Pittsburgh musicians who have all been around the proverbial block. Playing tunes from Grateful Dead, Phish, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and MORE, including some very tasty originals, theCAUSE packs a punch while still paying close attention to the delicate touch. The players are Eric "Pappy" Weingrad on guitar and vocals (Double Dose, Reuben's Painted Mandolin, The Ditch), David Tauberg on bass and vocals (Powers Run Band, Hard to Handle, Cherylann Hawk), Mike South on drums (Left for Dead, Sticky, West Park Road) and joining us in 2008, Pittsburgh blues veteran Jill Paone Simmons brings a whole new dimension to theCAUSE on vocals and continues to rock with us today. Jill also fronts the all-female Dead band Brown Eyed Women. Michael Cerveris is our permanent part time member playing keyboards (when he doesn't have commitments with his other great band the Sun Champs).
theCAUSE also has had the pleasure in 2012 and 2014 of having guitarist Steve Kimock join us on stage and, for the past several years we’ve had Jeff Mattson and Lisa Mackey from Dark Star Orchestra join us for our annual D-Jam benefit concert.
BUZZ POETS
Buzz Poets have been one of Pittsburgh’s most colorful, maniacal and solid bands since 1997 when the flashy and trashy band of rockers first hit the Pittsburgh music scene. Their high energy, alt rock style got people’s attention not only for the stage antics and lyrical content, but for having very well written and memorable songs. The music is all over the map stylistically demonstrating the bands love for everything from the pop punk and ska sounds of 311 and Sublime to Seattle grunge rock, to hip hop and reggae, and of course their love for the Beatles as a songwriting foundation is apparent. Having written some classic radio hits like “Copenhagen Girl” “Psycho”, and “Parasite” the band played 200+ shows a year for many years, but the most meaningful song the band has ever written is “Angel Eyes” about the tragic loss of a dear friend. These days the band makes rare reunion appearances and consists of Phil MacDowell (vocals, guitar) Tim Gaber (bass, vocals), Justin Sarra (keys, turntables), Ronnie Lavella (drums) and Juan Vasquez (guitar, vocals) The guys continue to bring the energy and the music that the loyal fans have known and loved for over a decade.
Clunkers and Friends The boys at the Pittsburgh Winery have been playing music forever, and are big fans of jamming out on the porch at the Coyote Republic late into the night, while drinking the leftover wine from the tasting room, "The Clunkers". The guys have been in several successful bands over the years and happened to hook up with some old friends, that have done some pretty big things in music, just to have a little fun and "scratch the itch". After the first session, everyone realized just how itchy we were and that we might be onto something cool, so we decided to learn a few more tunes, do a few more gigs, and see what happens… Looking forward to The Clunkers debut at the Coyote Republic! Let’s get it! The Band: Anthony Jardine, Tim “Wild Gabor” Gaber, Daniel Parks, Jared Figel, Phil MacDowell Style: Blues / Soul / Funk / Guitar Rock
