Event Description

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the mental health of Americans of all ages. Job losses, financial insecurity, remote learning and the loss of loved ones are added stressors to the fear of contracting the virus and social isolation many of us feel. In underserved communities with lower access to mental health and substance-use treatment, COVID-19 compounds longstanding racial disparities.

If you’ve been affected, you’re not alone.

Join WBEZ reporter Shannon Heffernan and mental health experts as they take your questions on how to cope during this stressful time and to connect you and your loved ones to helpful mental health resources.

Our panelists are:

  • Kerry Cochrane, LCSW, Clinical Director and Therapist, Cathedral Counseling

  • Gideon Litherland, PhD, LCPC, ACS, CCMHC, BC-TMH, Clinical Counselor, Veduta Consulting

  • Misty Major, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Live Oak Chicago

This virtual event is part of a four-part series of Covid Conversations that seeks to connect Chicagoans this pandemic winter. Each hour-long event will feature a WBEZ host in conversation with experts, answering questions submitted by the public. Join us and be sure to submit questions ahead of time when registering or here. We’ll get to as many as we can during the event.
