Event Description

Cold Mountain Music at Lake Logan and The Smoky Mountain News are excited to announce the official kickoff for the Cold Mountain Music Festival in partnership with Folkmoot, presenting Americana-indie act Grizzly Goat at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in the Queen Auditorium in Waynesville. Doors open at 6 p.m., with available beer, wine and food truck fare onsite.

Up-and-coming on the Americana scene, Grizzly Goat was formed in Utah and is now based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Their music is, as the band's name suggests, undomesticated. Grizzly's blend of folk-rock spans the entire breadth of the Americana genre; from soft and sincere campfire ballads to rocking electric harmonica solos on top of pounding drums and flailing banjo. Hardworking and tireless, they’ve brought their rootsy compositions from coast to coast in their white passenger van.

“The band’s music speaks to those who find solace in the woods, find awe in the great expanse of the desert, who can hear the mountains calling to them.”
     –Tahoe on Stage, Reno, NV

“Grizzly Goat has combined seemingly disparate influences into their own take on Americana.”
     –KSL, Salt Lake City, UT

Admission is $10. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Folkmoot.org or by calling (828) 452-2997. Limited seating is available. Parking is encouraged behind the Folkmoot Center for year-round events. Ticket sales support Folkmoot programs that sustain cultural arts for youth & families in Western North Carolina.

Folkmoot’s year-round programming initiatives have been made possible by the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Blue Ridge National Heritage Area, VisitNCSmokies.com and the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.
