Fair Use for Creative Artists
With Douglas Robbins, Esq.
The Courts have been steadily expanding the fair use exception to copyright. Fair use is the right that writers, thinkers, and artists have to copy, use, and exploit other parties’ copyrighted work for free. Douglas Robbins discusses the ever-evolving doctrine and explains how to make use of this very important right in the creation of books, screenplays, comics, movies, music, online, and in other media.
Presenter: Douglas Robbins, Esq. is a San Francisco lawyer at the firm Wood Robbins LLP, specializing in media law. He is the chair of the Intellectual Property Section for the San Mateo County Bar Association, panel counsel for California Lawyers for the Arts, Mediator for the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Program, and Director of Debate Team, an indie-documentary which aired on public television, KQED.
