AAMS Arbitration Training


With Mattie Robertson, Esq. & Teresa Carey, Esq.


Ever considered becoming an arbitrator? Have experience in your field and want to use it to help others resolve their legal disputes without lengthy court processes? The Arts Arbitration and Mediation Service (AAMS) is offering a training for individuals looking to become arbitrators. This 12-hour (over two days) training will focus on the basics of holding an arbitration hearing from start to finish, with a special focus on AAMS' arbitration process and rules. Prior conflict resolution training is not required to participate. This course is open to the general public.


$400 with CLE credits, $350 general, $300 CLA members.

Mattie RobertsonMattie Robertson, Esq. Mattie ​Robertson ​is a dispute resolution professional who has mediated over 300 cases, and is certified as both a mediator and arbitrator. She has mentored other professional mediators and conducted numerous conflict resolution trainings. Mattie previously worked managing the SEEDS Court Mediation Program, which provided same-day mediation services to litigants in the Alameda County Superior Courts. She now coordinates the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services program for California Lawyers for the Arts in the Bay Area.


Teresa CareyTeresa Carey, Esq. Teresa Carey has been a professional mediator for over 20 years and is a well-known mediation instructor. Since 1980 she has mediated numerous cases including business, labor & employment, architecture & construction, real estate, tort claims, health care, civil rights, probate & trust matters. She is a board member of The Mediation Society and California Lawyers for the Arts.
