CKUA presents: Jesse and the Dandelions w TCOSS

We're being neighbourly and teaming up with CKUA Radio Network to present Jesse and the Dandelions with TCOSS, The Utilities and Hello Moth this October on the legendary #KingEddyYYC stage.

About Jesse and the Dandelions
Jesse and the Dandelions is a five-piece band led by Jesse Northey. Their upcoming album Give Up The Gold is enriched with classic synth and guitar textures that pay respect to the past, while forging their own path forward. String sections, a cacophonous blend of noise, and heavily layered vocal harmonies push accessible pop hooks into more psychedelically complex and intriguing harmonic territory that rewards repeat listeners.

About TCOSS
TCOSS was birthed from the belly of Slaughter House Studios with a 7 track demo, 'Burrow in the Brain Owl', followed by 'The Children of Lions and Garudas' in 2008.

They fully tracked their next album before the heartbreaking death of Lisa. ‘Circuit Crooks’, released 2012, features Lisa on drums/piano/organ/voice. Dedicated in her memory, "You will always be our Bad News Betty". Joel added new force as the pulse of 'She Dreamed a Drought', released 2014.

And now, ‘Softened Head’, recorded with the infamous Lorrie Matheson at Arch Audio! TCOSS invited Jamie (of The Jamies) to lay guest vocals on a few tracks. The boys fell in love (and missed the estrogen), and... Jamie joined the band! Come see what sultry female vocals add to TCOSS’ medieval junk harmonies.

“TCOSS feels like the Second Coming of nineties indie rock. You can imagine these guys spending late nights listening to Surfer Rosa, Slanted and Enchanted, and The Lonesome Crowded West” - IMVERYAPE

“Interesting and noisy group, somewhere between Modest Mouse and Guided by Voices, with hints of Sebadoh” - CKXU 88.3FM

About Hello Moth:
Hello Moth interweaves electronics with organics to make poetic electro-pop that is sometimes dark, sometimes uplifting, and always deeply affecting. His voice--forceful yet ethereal--merges with synthesizers to create otherworldly songs and powerful performances.

Through his unorthodox style, he has achieved success in Canada and beyond: 2013’s debut album Infinitely Repeated was nominated for Best Electronic Record at the WCMAs, he provided direct support to St. Vincent at Sled Island 2014, performed at TEDxYYC 2015, was dubbed “the weirdest, most underrated, most original and unabashedly true-to-self performer on the Rifflandia lineup, hands down” by Exclaim! in 2016, and was one of the few Canadian artists selected to showcase at the prestigious Great Escape Festival in the UK in 2017. CBC called Hello Moth’s 2016 album, Slave in a Stone, “frenetic, weird and all kinds of exciting … the kind of innovative music-making that keeps the future of Canadian music looking bright.” The video for A Song About Transience won Best Music Video in Alberta at the 2017 Rosie Awards. 2017 also saw the release of EP Nebula Songs, which prompted Canadian Beats to say, “there is such innovation and creativity behind the work of Hello Moth, so much so as to almost creating a new style.”
