After joining the 1982 Lebanon War as a gunner, Samual Maoz entered film school and started to make his own films. With only two films in discography, this contemporary Israeli film auteur had already won a Golden Lion (Lebanon, 2009) and a Silver Lion (Foxtrot, 2017) for his compelling storytelling of military culture and reflection of war and humanity. In this film class, you’ll learn filmmaking, scriptwriting, cinematography, location scouting and how to be an original and uncompromising storyteller.
CineCina Film Festival will present a 35mm screening of Samual Maoz’s Golden Lion film Lebanon on Nov 3th, 2019.
