Pre-concert talk at 1:30 PM
Feel the love on Valentine’s Day weekend when Chatham Baroque is joined by GRAMMY-Award Winning tenor, Aaron Sheehan, and Christa Patton on Italian baroque harp for vocal and instrumental music from 17th century England and Italy. Composers include Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi, and William Lawes plus several equally worthy but relatively unknown composers who are particularly gifted in composing for solo voice and basso continuo. Featured works on Cupid’s Harp include William Lawes’ Harp Consorts written for the unusual combination of violin, viol, harp and theorbo, a toccata by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger for harp and theorbo, the exquisite “Oh, fair Cedaria” by Henry Purcell and the intense “Et è pur dunque vero” by Claudio Monteverdi.
With guests:
Aaron Sheehan (tenor)
Christa Patton (baroque harp)
