Event Description

1942, dir Michael Curtiz w/Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, Paul Henreid, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, 102 min, 35mm

A world-weary nightclub owner in Nazi-controlled Morocco during WWII (Bogart) finds his normally apolitical stance challenged when an old flame (Bergman) shows up asking for help along with her French resistance husband (Henreid). Equal parts romance and wartime thriller, CASABLANCA is a remarkably entertaining film.

The Brattle has a long history with Humphrey Bogart and particularly CASABLANCA. Beginning in the early 1960s, the Brattle ran a Bogie festival every year during Harvard exams and the students became obsessed with his particular brand of cool. Screenings of CASABLANCA became interactive experiences replete with costumes, sing-alongs and quote-alongs, props, proposals, and more. Those heady days might have (mostly) passed, but we still always enjoy sharing CASABLANCA with audiences new and old.

A "Double Feature" ticket additionally allows admission into the 2:30PM screening of THE MALTESE FALCON. No additional purchase is necessary.
